Charlie's diaries contain frequent mention of several individuals with the surname Lloyd. Whether these are all members of one family is not certain, though it seems reasonable to assume that some at least were related. Those mentioned are: 'Alf Lloyd', 'Percy Lloyd', 'Will Lloyd', 'Ethel Lloyd', 'Mr. Lloyd', 'Mrs. Lloyd', and 'Miss Lloyd'.
From the 1901 census records it seems highly likely that several of the 'Lloyds' mentioned in Charlie's diaries were members of a family living at 237 Lordship Lane, East Dulwich. The census forms record that the head of family was Agnes Lloyd (55), who was living there with seven children, including Alfred Lloyd (22, financiers clerk), Ethel Lloyd (21, cashier), William Lloyd (17, sampler in tea) and Percy Lloyd (15, junior clerk). The other Lloyd children recorded on the census form at 237 Lordship Lane were Florence (25, no occupation recorded), Eleanor (19, waitress) and Winifred (13). Payne family correspondence in 1917 suggest that 'Percy Lloyd' may have been a casualty in the First World War.
The identities of the individuals referred to by Charlie as 'Mr Lloyd' and 'Miss Lloyd', remain unclear.
